Happy Holidays from all of us at the CDH Labs.

UCLA campus will be closed from December 23, 2007, through January 1, 2008. The campus reopens Tuesday, January 2.

For the most part, CDH staff will not be working during this period. The servers and other machines in the Haines Data Center do not need rest, however, so they will be operating as usual.
During the closure:
1. We will be monitoring the systems located in the Data Center in Haines and a few staff will be on call to deal with server problems.
2. It is very unlikely that any of the servers will go down, but we do have plans in place to deal with issues that may arise. The plans give priority to core services such as email and the active directory system (which other systems depend on). Issues with core services will be addressed as soon as possible.
3. Issues with other servers (such as Ecampus, file storage, database and project servers) will be addressed on a case by case basis. They may have to wait until the next business day, which, depending on the severity of the issue, and the availability of staff, will be either December 27 or 28 (closure days that are not official university holidays) or January 2 (the day campus reopens). In the majority of cases, it will be January 2.
4. The Help Desk will be closed throughout the holiday period.
5. All other areas of CDH will be closed.
